No doubt, amongst the East European countries, Ukraine has one of the best infrastructures for higher education. The numerous universities, be it for medical education or engineering had been quite popular with foreign students. No wonder, a good number of students from India had been pursuing their medical education in Ukraine.
The best thing about Ukraine is its cost of education and living, which is reasonably cheap when compared to most Western nations. The cost of medical education in Ukraine is, in fact, cheaper than studying at a private medical college in India. For Indian students, the popularity of studying abroad in Ukraine is such that they form the largest group of foreign students studying there.
Apart from those from India, as per Ukrainian universities, students from more than 150 countries have been studying in Ukraine. The added advantage of studying here is that education is available in the English language and the various undergraduate and postgraduate courses are well recognised by most European countries, Ukraine being part of the Bologna Process, which it joined in 2005 and thus integrating Ukrainian education with European Higher Education. Many students after graduation or completion of their studies either stay back in Ukraine or migrate to other countries in Europe and the West.
Those aspiring for studying in Ukraine can study at any of the more than 240 higher education institutions in the country. The most popular fields of study for international students are Medicine, Pharmacology, Avionics, Rocket Technology, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, Oil & Gas Engineering, Shipbuilding, Maritime Engineering, Atomic Energy Studies, Agronomics, Biology, Genetics and so on, not in any particular order, however, except perhaps medicine, which is very popular with most Indian students. Amongst the best universities in Ukraine are V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, Taras Schevchenko National University of Kyiv and the National Technical University of Ukraine "Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute". These three have been consistently figuring in the QS World University Rankings. Apart from them, there are three more top universities, which too have figured in the QS World Rankings. These are the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Sumy State University and Donetsk National University.
However, considering the ongoing war in Ukraine, I do not think it is presently advisable to apply for a study abroad program in Ukraine at least for the next one or two years. With none of the sides relenting, no one knows, how long the war between the two warring countries will prolong and what direction it will take. Hopefully, the war ends soon, Ukraine is able to gain back its past glory and foreign students once again queue up for studying in this historically and culturally rich nation.

It is one of the best venues to get an education, in my opinion as an Indian student studying in Ukraine. The universities in Ukraine provide a wide range of top-notch courses in fields including engineering, medicine, and business. The professors are highly qualified and experienced, and the programme is well-structured. Studying in Ukraine is a great option for Indian students because the costs are so reasonable.
Kyiv National University, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and Lviv Polytechnic Institute are the top universities in Ukraine for Indian students. I can attest to the educational excellence of Kyiv National University because I was a student there. The university offers students the best learning environment possible with its state-of-the-art labs and well-stocked library. The lecturers are friendly, personable, and constantly eager to assist their pupils.
My time spent studying in Ukraine has been incredible. I have a lot of friends from all over the world, and they have been really helpful in helping me grasp the traditions and culture of the nation.
