What are some good apps and websites for preparation of UGC NET Paper-I?
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 05 May 2023 UGC NET examination will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). There are two papers in this test. Paper I is generic in nature and intended to assess the teaching and /or research aptitude of the candidate. There will be 50 questions and each question will be carrying 2 marks. The second paper is the subject paper and will have 100 questions on the subject selected by the candidate. In this paper also each question will carry 2 marks. Both papers put together are for 300 marks and the duration allowed is 3 hours for both the papers put together.
There are many apps and websites that will help the student in preparing well for the test. But some of them, which are more reliable as far as my knowledge goes, are given below.
1. Textbook App: The app will offer a wide range of study materials like free study notes PDFs, quizzes, test series, practice question banks, and previous year papers with solutions. They will offer online classes also to students so that the candidate will get good information and expert suggestions about the examination.
2. Toppers exam: This app provides combo packages based on the subscription made, This app will provide Mock Tests, Sectional Tests, Study Materials, Books and E-books for UGC NET Preparation.
3. Mission UGC NET Exam: This app will provide resources and techniques for successfully facing Paper I.. Questions on general knowledge, current events, communication, mathematical reasoning, logical reasoning, etc are presented in this app
4. Unacademy Exam: This app is one of the best apps for UGC NET. It provides interactive sessions, resources, study materials etc, for both UGC NET papers.
5. YouTube: This app also offers free online UGC NET preparation guidance. It is a good virtual platform for both UGC NET Paper 1 & Paper 2.
These are my suggestions based on the information gathered by me from the students and some teaching faculty known to me. There may be many more.
Author: Umesh Post Date: 12 Jun 2023 UGC-NET is the most important competitive examination for aspirants who want to apply for the job of Junior Research Fellow or Assistant Professor. As this test is the gateway to a lucrative career in teaching it is obvious that there is a good rush for appearing in this test. Though there are many guidebooks and question paper banks available in the market in physical form but there is a large amount of material available on internet sites also. For example You Tube is one valuable resource where a large number of agencies showcase their channel to guide the students.
There are many applications available that provide a good amount of resources as well as question papers to the candidates for preparing for this prestigious test. Many of these offer basic resources and questions as free but have a premium coaching segment also which is available on payment of a fee.
I have gone through some applications and features available there and accordingly shortlisted some of these apps as detailed below - 1. BYJU's Exam Prep - This app provides a large number of resources related to the UGC-NET exam. Earlier year question papers and solutions are provided to the students and are taught by professional coaches. This app has established itself as a brand in the user market. 2. Testbook App - It is a very good app for preparation for UGC-NET and has a large bank of mock tests and the student can practice and prepare in a precise manner. 3. Pratiyogita Darpan - This app is from the well-known publishers of the same name competition magazine. It provides quality tutorials, course questions, solutions, quizzes, notes, etc. 4. Toppers Exam - This is a popular app and provides a complete practice set for UGC-NET exam like Mock Tests, Sectional Tests, Study Material, Question Bank, etc. It also provides books/ebooks as required by the student. 5. Eduncle Experts - They offer online teaching classes and teach methodically and cover the course through question-solving and mock tests. 6. Mission UGC NET Exam - It covers all types of questions on general knowledge, current events, communication, mathematical reasoning, logical reasoning, and other aspects. 7. Unacademy App - It is a popular and well-known app in this category. They provide online teaching for preparation and have a large resource and experienced teachers. 8. Kumar Bharat Education - This app provides good practice for solving questions from the past year and continuous assessment in that process. They have a YouTube Channel also known as 'Let's Crack NTA-UGC NET'.
I want to mention one important thing here as per my experience of competitive exams, just solving questions and appearing in mock tests would not suffice. What a student should do is one should go through the syllabus and try to also cover those topics from where fewer questions were seen in the past. This is very necessary to enlarge the scope of study and believe me that helps tremendously in the exam.

The UGC I paper is a test of Teaching and Research aptitude. Paper II is the test on the optional subject selected by the candidate. The test is Multiple Choice type. There is no negative mark.
The following sites or apps are popular for UGC NET exam preparation and online coaching-
1. Testbook.com: This platform provides online preparation for UGC NET and many other entrance tests, and tests for govt jobs. 2. Unacademy: Gives online coaching for UGC NET. It has a good interactive interface. The course is available with a premium subscription for expert teachers' online coaching. 3. One need not depend on only one but can do homework by visiting and familiarizing the various apps/sites and then take an optimum decision based on one's suitability. Apart from this, one should also do a proper self study.
