I know a person who did his diploma in computer hardware. He made his own startup and he took a contract of maintaining systems available in some non-IT organisations in Hyderabad. He employed 4 or 5 diploma holders in computer hardware under him and doing great. Whenever I face a problem with my laptop, I inform him and he will come to me and completes the job. This is one example where a diploma holder with entrepreneurial qualities has become an employer and given jobs to another 4 or 5 equally qualified persons. So, there is no problem for a person who wants to work hard and take calculated risks in the field of his own expertise.

Computer hardware subjects deal with two main subjects. One is the physical parts of the computer. The second subject is the process of supplying data or information from one place to another place. It will be carried out by linking a group of networks with the aid of the hardware peripherals. switches, access points, network interface cards, networking cables etc, are some examples of these hardware peripherals.

That is why we see two types of technicians in this field. Computer hardware maintenance technicians and networking technicians. These diploma holders can start their careers as hardware engineers or networking engineers and can go for higher positions based on the experience, he/she is having.

The following are some roles a hardware diploma holder can take up.
• System administrator

• Network administrator

• Computer Hardware Engineer

• Network Engineer

• IT technician

• IT administrator

• Field service technician

• Database development and administration

• Intranet Specialist
