What are the opportunities for higher education in Ireland
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 28 May 2023 I understand that the education system in Ireland gives more thrust to skill development and entrepreneurial skills.
The following are some of the salient features that make this country a desired destination for many international Students.
1. Obtaining a visa is easy and Visa can be extended up to two years after completing the studies and one can search for a job there. Getting a permanent staying permit is also not difficult, I understand.
2. The courses are designed in such a way that the student will become innovative and creative.
3. Cost of living is affordable.
4. Tuition fee is comparatively less than in many other European countries.
5. There are international students in this country and around 5% of them are Indians.
6. English is the medium of Instruction. English proficiency certificate from an authorized test provider like IELTS or TOEFL is required to get a seat in the institutes in this country.
7. The Irish government will be monitoring all the educational institutes in the country and see that uniformity is maintained and quality education is provided. The courses are designed to see that career opportunities will be good for the students.
8. The country ranked 8th on Global Peace Index and 7th on the happiness index in the 2021 rankings. The country is safe.
9. The people of the country are more friendly.
10. There are some government-funded scholarships to international students for their high education. But these scholarships will be under the control of the university and the student should get information from the university in which they want to join.
11. I understand that there are two types of Visas. C type Study Visa and D tyoe Study Visa. C Type study visa is for short training programmes etc and it is valid for 3 months. The other one is for longer durations and many students opt for this visa only
12. As per the OECD 2019 Education report the country's education system is the fourth highest standard of education in the world.
13. As per the Bloomberg Innovation Index 2020 this country is the 16th most innovative country in the world.
14. There are chances for internships in the world's best organisations like Google, Amazon, Apple etc.
15. The universities encourage research and world-class facilities are available in some of the universities here.
16. There are world-class universities and the following are some well-known universities from this country.
A) University College of Dublin B) Trinity College Dublin C) Dublin city university D) Maynooth University
The above points are general guidelines for students who wish to study in Ireland. But before selecting the institute, I advise students to know more about that university and study the syllabus they are offering and then decide. There are some genuine consultants who can guide you in selecting the course and the university in this country, I suggest. But don't jump to conclusions without knowing the full information.
