BITS Pilani offers several part-time job opportunities for its students. Some of these opportunities are:

  • Student Assistantship Program: Under this program, students can work as research assistants, teaching assistants, or administrative assistants in various departments of the college. The program provides students with a chance to gain work experience and earn some money.

  • Student Ambassadors: Students can work as ambassadors for various events and programs organized by the college. They can help with organizing events, managing social media, and providing information to visitors.

  • Library Assistants: Students can work as library assistants, helping with tasks such as book shelving, circulation desk, and book processing.

  • IT Help Desk: Students can work as part of the IT Help Desk team, providing technical support to other students and staff.

  • Content Creation: Students can work on content creation for the college's social media platforms, including writing blog posts, creating videos, and taking photos.

  • Tutoring: Students can offer tutoring services to other students in subjects they excel in. This is a great way to earn money and help other students at the same time.

  • Freelancing: Students can also explore freelance opportunities such as writing, graphic design, or website development.

It is important to note that the availability of part-time jobs may vary each semester, and students are advised to check with the Career Center or the concerned department for available opportunities. Additionally, students should ensure that their work does not interfere with their academic responsibilities.

There are several chances both on and off campus, according to some BITS Pilani students who have worked part-time during their studies. Working at the library, computer lab, sports facility, dining hall, or as a teaching or research assistant are all examples of on-campus occupations. Off-campus employment options include working in surrounding stores, eateries, and cafes as well as providing part-time tutoring services to local schools.

Students also discussed their experiences working as virtual assistants, data entry operators, or writers for various businesses. During their semester breaks, many students also took part in half-time internships to acquire exposure to the workplace and work experience.

It's crucial to remember that students should put their studies ahead of any part-time employment and make sure that their occupations don't get in the way of their education.

As per the information given by one of my colleagues who graduated from BITS, they provide a scheme termed EWYLP - the acronym for EARN WHILE YOU LEARN. According to my colleague, BITS offers work opportunities for students at their library, offices and other works such as tutorial work, to make an income on the side while studying at BITS. You can earn money by working in the offices as an assistant, working in the labs as a professional assistant, supervising the supermarket at the university, etcetera. However, these options look limited as they might not work out for everyone. They also provide chances for students to work as Teacher's assistants and take classes on subjects such as foreign languages. I would advise you to look for work online as in this day and age, the chances of you finding a job that is fit for your skill online is highly probable and more efficient. I wish you all the best and hope you find the right side hustle!
