What is SAT exam for and what is the eligibility criteria?

Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 09 Aug 2023 Scholastic Aptitude Test ( SAT) is a standard examination for students who want to pursue their higher studies in a foreign country after their 12th class. That means students who want to study undergraduate courses in a foreign institution after their 12th class should write this examination.
Based on the score obtained in this test seats will be allotted. This test is designed in such a way that the abilities of the 12th students in mathematical, writing, and reading skills can be evaluated properly. The performance of the student in this test will give an idea about the knowledge of the student and his/her readiness in taking up higher studies. Some institutions are offering scholarships to international students based on their scores on this test. The College Board will be conducting the SAT exam.
The candidates who want to appear in this test should register their names on the College Board website and apply for the examination. Only candidates who are 13 years or above age can only register on this college board. No specific eligibility criteria were fixed by the college board.
Note the following points that are generally followed by many candidates.
1. An Identification document like a passport or Aadhaar card is required to register on the college board.
2. Only candidates above 13 years of age can register on the website of the board. But the majority of the candidates appearing for this examination will be in the age group of 17 to 19 years.
3. No specific educational qualification is prescribed. But the examination will cover the syllabus of the 12th class. That is why mainly 11th or 12th-class students only will appear for this test.
4. This examination will be conducted 7 times a year. There are no restrictions on the number of attempts and a student can attend the examinations as many times as he/ she wants.
5. There will be a total of 154 questions in this examination. The score scale will be 400-1600. The duration is 180. There is no negative marking system in this examination.

Eligibility criteria
There is no age limit set by the College Board. But the rules are different for: 1. If a candidate is 13 or old then he/she can create a free account on College Board and register online. 2. Candidates who are 12 years or younger can register only through mail or phone. Such candidates need not pay the phone registration fee 3. Candidates studying in the eighth grade or lower need not include a photo during registration. However, they need a valid photo ID at the exam center
