Author: Dev Arora Post Date: 04 May 2023 NEET examination is conducted by the National testing agency every year. This is an MCQ based examination consisting of 200 questions in which 180 questions are to be attempted, carrying 4 marks each. Hence total mark for the examination is 720, therefore cutoff should be out of this score of 720. This cutoff is determined by various factors which can be categorized as follows:
Difficulty of examination: The more difficult examination would be cutoff would be less and vice versa.
Number of candidates appeared:More and more candidates appeared for the examination the cutoff would soar.
Even there are two types of cutoff in the NEET examination, one is pre-declared which is the qualifying cutoff, i.e. the bare minimum marks a candidate should score to qualify for the examination. However, to get admission into the reputed medical colleges or other colleges a student should reach the admission cutoff scores.
Cutoff would vary based on respective caste. For the general category, based on the past trend the cutoff would be high as compared to reserved classes. The expected minimum on the basis of past trends would be 120 and can even reach up to 715. Similarly for others, this would vary and can be calculated based on past trends.
However, exact cutoffs would be determined once scorecards are released. This is just for the sake of clarity.
