In all VITs (Vellore Institute of Technology) including VIT Vellore, NRIs are considered equivalent to foreign students. Unless you have an Indian passport, you will have to apply in the foreign student category.

Below is the fees structure for B Tech students in VIT for 2023 - 2024 academic year:

Tuition Fees (Per Annum): 9000 $
Caution Deposit (Refundable) (One-time payment): 100 $
Mess Fees: US$ 1125
International students have separate hostel facilities and the hostel fees vary between US$ 1280 to US$ 2910, depending on the type of hostel you select. There are options like 1-bed, 2-bed, 4-bed, 6-bed rooms etc. Also, there are AC and non-Ac rooms available.

Depending on the type of room you select, the total fee per year for NRI/International students in VIT varies between US$ 11,000 to US$ 13,000 per year.

The above fee structure is for the B Tech course in VIT. All other courses also have a higher fee structure compared to the fees for Indian students.

You can see the detailed fee structure in official VIT website.

I have a friend who wanted to study as an NRI at VIT (Vellore Institute of Technology) (Non-Resident Indian). My acquaintance was interested in the cost structure and asked me for additional information.

According to my study, the costs structure for NRIs at VIT can vary based on the programme and campus chosen. Tuition fees for NRI students are typically greater than those for Indian students. For example, the annual tuition fee for B.Tech programmes for NRI students at VIT Vellore Campus is roughly USD 8,000, while it is around USD 7,000 for M.Tech programmes. Similarly, the annual tuition fee for B.Tech programmes for NRI students at VIT Chennai Campus is roughly USD 7,000, and it is around USD 6,000 for M.Tech programmes.

I informed my buddy of this information and suggested them to contact the VIT admissions office or visit their website for the most up-to-date and correct pricing structure for NRI students.

Hence, if any of you are thinking of attending VIT as an NRI, keep in mind that the costs structure may be more than for Indian students. Nonetheless, VIT is known for its high-quality education and outstanding campus facilities, so the investment may be worthwhile.
