Govt. of India Vidyanjali Scheme - features, and ways for common people to contribute to it
Author: Swati Sarnobat Post Date: 19 Jun 2024 Vidyanjali is a voluntary program designed by the Ministry of Education, Govt of India whose main objective is to improve school conditions by involving private sectors and different communities in government schools across India. Under this scheme, different volunteers such as retired teachers, NRIs, government authorities, defence professionals, are contributing to the betterment of students from Grades I to VIII in co-scholastic activities. They strive to bridge the skill gap among students who belong to lower economic backgrounds. They also contribute equipment and assets during social functions in school.
The schools and volunteers should register on the Vidyanjali portal. The school should publish the activity or service and address their need for obtaining equipment or assets. The volunteers should search for the advertisement that has been publicized. Then they agree to contribute as specified by the schools.
The services that can be rendered by the volunteers include generic-level services, activities, and sponsored services. The generic-level activities include providing subject assistance, teaching yoga, sports, and vocational skills, assisting disabled students from school, providing career counselling, mentoring talented and gifted children, and also providing nutritional assistance to students. Sponsored services include hiring special educators, counselors, physiological support, medical camps, cleanliness and resources, defence training, etc.
