Which is the best B.Com specialization course that is in demand for 2024-25?
Author: Sheo Shankar Jha Post Date: 28 Apr 2024 It would be difficult to pinpoint a single specialisation course promising the students a rosy career in their B.Com stage. There are numerous specialisation courses such as Accounts & Finance, Financial Market, Banking & Finance, Statistics, Auditing and Taxation, Industrial Business and many more which can provide learners with deep insights into the different financial tools to make them an efficient manager in handling such issues being pursued by them. The specialisation choice of the undergraduate program (B.Com) very often indicates the career objective of a particular student. Hence a student should not remain in a hurry in selecting a specialised stream. What is needed from his side is to analyse the various specialization choices included in the curriculum and which one interests him most apart from the demanding pattern for such a specialization.
Let us explore a few specialization courses which can make the career of a student more meaningful once he passes out his B.Com with the specialization he has opted for. According to me, the two courses indicated below are the best ones in terms of demand in the various organizations- 1) B.Com in Accounts & Finance: It is widely chosen by a large number of students providing them with a high-paying job profile in the commercial field. The in-depth knowledge of accounting & finance course helps a student to gain the technical aspect in the area he has chosen. The knowledge of money, business and management acquired during the learning process makes the student explore various attractive options.
While working in SAIL in Bokaro Plant, I saw how seriously the executives in the areas of Accounting and Finance were involved in raising the productivity of the different products such as Hot Metal, Finished Products of Hot Streep Mill, Galvanised Products of Cold Rolling Mills and many more products produced from the different units. In the process of decision-making relating to finance, the financial advisor having a specialisation in this area takes care of saving resources right from the Blast Furnace to its finishing stage insisting that the metallurgist reduce the imported coke rate (being imported from Australia due to less ash content) using controlling variable operational parameters. Such a coordinated approach yielded us a substantial benefit in terms of revenue. Thus, the imported coke rate was reduced from one ton to 580 kg per ton of hot metal. The role of the Financial Advisor has been important to avert the demurrage charges to be paid to the Railways in case of delayed despatch to the party. The advisor of the Finance Department along with other senior officials ensures the availability of the full stock of the finished product of Hot Rolled Coils before being despatched the material to the party. This reflects the interest of the Financial Advisor in how sincerely he is involved in saving revenue in the different processes.
2) B.Com in Financial Marketing: This course is quite popular due to its outcomes in handling financial securities including the concepts of stocks, bonds, debts and equities, financial assets and the foreign exchange market. It is the most sought-after course due to its versatility. Moreover, there is an increasing demand for this specialization from the industries. This course provides a learner deep understanding of finance and money, communication skills, investment techniques, etc.
Author: DR.N.V. Srinivasa Rao Post Date: 21 Apr 2024 Bachelor of Commerce (B Com.) is one of the popular courses in India. Many students opt for this course. It is an undergraduate course and develops knowledge in areas like accounting, finance, economics, marketing, taxation, business management etc. A B.Com degree imparts knowledge to students for essential business competencies.
This is a basic degree and there are many specialisations in this course. The following are some of the important specialisations offered- Accounting and Finance, Banking and Insurance, Taxation, Economics, Marketing, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Supply Chain Management, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Financial Markets, Retail Management and E-commerce.
Among the above specialisations, popular specialisations are Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Management and E-commerce. These specialisations are more general and the scope will be wider to get a job. The fields are not restricted and there are many industries which accept these specialisations for recruiting people in their organisations. But I feel that just completing a B.Com will not give you a chance to have a better career. One should concentrate on higher studies and do some certifications courses while working so that they will acquire some additional skills which will come in handy to have a better career.
