Tezpur University is a central university from Tezpur, Assam, India.

Courses & Admissions details, Tezpur University

The university mainly offers UG, PG, as well as Research degrees through their various schools, like the following :

i. School of Engineering (which has different departments for Computer Science, Civil, Electronics & Communication, Energy, Food Engineering & Technology, Mechanical, and Electrical).
B.Tech (except in Energy department), M.Tech (except in Electrical department), as well as PhD (except in Electrical department) are the courses offered.

Admission to B.Tech courses will be through JEE mains :
JEE mains 2019 : https://jeemain.nic.in

M.Tech admissions will be based on valid GATE scores :
http://gate.iitm.ac.in/

M.Tech admissions can also be on the basis of a university entrance test.

PhD admissions will be based on valid GATE/NET/ scores or equivalent. It can also be on the basis of an entrance test conducted by Tezpur University, but candidates with valid GATE/NET or equivalent doesn't need to appear for this test.

ii. School of Humanities & Social Sciences (which has different departments for Cultural Studies, English & Foreign Languages, Mass Communication & Journalism, Sociology, Hindi, Social Work, Education, and Law).

iii. School of Management Sciences (which has different departments for Business Administration, Commerce, and Disaster Management).

MBA admissions will be on the basis of a valid CAT/XAT/MAT or scores in other tests which will be accepted by this university.

iv. School of Sciences (which has different departments for Chemical Sciences, Environmental Science, Mathematical Sciences, Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, and Physics).

Admission to all of Tezpur University's PG programs (MA, M.Sc, etc.) will be on the basis of a university level entrance exam. Admission to university's Integrated B.Sc+B.Ed, BA+B.Ed, Integrated PG programs, B.Voc, as well as B.Ed will be on the basis of a university level entrance exam.

Research admissions at Tezpur University can be attained through qualifying an entrance exam for the same at the university; but candidates with valid NET/JRF/CSIR scores are exempted from this entrance exam.

About the University

Tezpur University, also known as Central University of Assam was set up in 1994 by the Govt. of India with th.e aim to provide courses that would generate employment. The university also promotes research in areas which are of special and direct relevance to the region and in emerging areas in Science and Technology.

Located near the vicinity of Sonitpur near Tezpur, the University campus makes the visitors thrilled by its natural beauty. The campus has all the modern facilities and infrastructure to meet the needs of the students. Very good hostel facilities for both girls and boys, Library and research centre, computer facilities and sports activities are provided.

Academics

The University imparts education to various students across the country through the following four wings in the campus.

Courses offered: Integrated BA B Ed, Integrated BSc BEd, Integrated MA, Integrated MSc, Integrated MCom, MA (English/ Linguistics and Language Technology/ Linguistics and Endangered Language (Modular)/ Cultural Studies/ Sociology/ Mass Communication and Journalism/ Hindi/ Social Work, and Education), MCom, MSc (Mathematics/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Nano-science and Technology/ Environmental Science/ Molecular Biology and Biotechnology), BTech and M Tech programmes in ECE, Mechanical, CSE,Civil Engineering, Food Engineering and Technology, MCA, P.G. Diploma in Tourism Management/ Mobile and Multimedia Communication/ Translation (Hindi)/ Women's Studies, Certificate in Chinese, B. Voc. in Renewable Energy / Food Processing programmes.

In addition, PhD/Doctoral programs are also undertaken by the respective Departments.

Admission to B Tech courses is being taken through the JEE Mains examination conducted by CBSE where 60% of seats are catered for the Home state students. For admission into post-graduation, it would be based on GATE score while for Management course it is through CAT score. For admission into Science, Humanities and Journalism courses, the University conducts a Common Entrance Examination for selection of candidates for admission.
