The Utkal University, established in the year 1943, is the seventeenth oldest University in India. Its present campus at Vani Vihar, BHUBANESWAR is located on a sprawling 399.9 Acre area in the heart of BHUBANESWAR, with the Sainik School to its north, National High way No.5 to its south, Regional Research Laboratory and Institute of Physics to its west and the South Eastern Railway line to its east. The Foundation stone of this Campus was laid by Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India on 1st January 1958 and the Campus was inaugurated by Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, the second President of India on 2nd January 1963. The total number of students in the P.G. Department of the campus at Vani Vihar is nearly 3,000. This is in fact the largest affiliating University in the country with approximately 267 affiliated Colleges (Degree Colleges-219, Professional College-44, Other Constituent Colleges-2) under its jurisdiction.

Utkal University is the oldest public university in Odisha and one of the first 20 university in India. Its location is Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha. It is the university with the largest number of affiliated colleges, in various fields of studies. The university offers various integrated PG, PG, as well as Doctoral degrees in various areas.

Course and Admission details, Utkal University

Admission to its integrated PG courses (like BBA+MBA, BCA+MCA) will be done on the basis of candidate's performance in an entrance test along with their marks in 12th or equivalent.

B.Pharm / M.Pharm admissions will be based on Odisha Joint Entrance Exam (OJEE). Like any other similar institute, the university also give M.Pharm admissions on the basis of a candidate's score in GPAT. However, Sponsored M.Pharm admissions will be granted on the candidate's performance in a university level entrance test.

Admissions to Management courses like MBA, and Masters in Personal Management & Industrial Relations will be based on candidate's performance in a university level entrance test, along with a GD and PI. Candidate's with a valid CAT/MAT score are exempted from this university level entrance test, but will have to undergo the GD & PI sessions. Executive or Sponsored MBA admissions will be done on the basis of a university level entrance test only.

Admissions to all other PG courses including MCA, MLiSc, MA in various subjects, etc. will be on the basis of candidate's performance in the university level entrance test, along with the marks they scored for their UG.

M.Tech admissions will also be finalised on the basis of candidate's performance in entrance test, conducted bu Utkal University. However, candidate's with valid GATE scores are also eligible for M.Tech admissions, without this entrance test.

Majority of seats in M.Sc Biotechnology course at Utkal University will be filled based on the candidate's performance in JNU CEEB. Rest of the seats will be filled on the basis of a university level entrance test.

MJMC admissions at Utkal University will be open to candidates with a valid BJMC from a recognized university and it will be finalized on the basis of their performance in a university level entrance test.

M.Phil admissions will be filled on the basis of candidate's marks in their PG, and their performance in a university level Viva-Voce.

PhD admissions will be finalized on the basis of a university level entrance and interview. But those with a valid NET/JRF/CSIR or equivalent will be exempted from the same.
