Named after the renowned Tamil Poet Thiruvalluvar, Thiruvalluvar University is a public state university located at Vellore, Tamil Nadu. In general, Thiruvalluvar University offers UG, PG, as well as Research degrees through its various departments in Biotechnology, Mathematics, Chemistry, Zoology, Economics, English, and Tamil.

Admission to all its PG courses will be open to candidates who have passed their 12th or equivalent, as well as UG, respectively, and will be based on the candidate's performance in the entrance test conducted by the concerned department in the university. And, syllabus of the entrance test will be as per the curriculum of UG in the same area.

UG courses are open to candidates who have completed their 12th or equivalent in subjects relevant for the course they have opted for their UG.

PhD or doctoral degrees are open to candidates with PG degrees.
