Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University is one of the famous university in Pondicherry. It is located in the Campus of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College, Pondy Cuddalore Main Road, Pillaiyarkuppam village of Pondicherry. Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University formerly named Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute which was established in 2001 year and declared as Constituent institute as dedications, richly efforts of Chairman and Vibrant staff of the college which rewards the college as "Deemed University" by the Government of India as recommendations of the UG in 2008 year and Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute titled as "Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University" to post education in Doctoral Programs. Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University was established under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956 during 2008 year.

Infrastructure: Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth University is spread over a large and a sprawling campus of about 45 acres of vivacious, lush green premises in rural area which is situated on the Puducherry Cuddalore Main Road, Pillaiyarkuppam, Puducherry.

Courses: At present, the university has four medical institutes and nursing colleges affiliated to it which provides Super Specialty Courses, PG Degree Courses, PG Diploma Courses, UG Courses in education up to post Doctoral Programs which mainly includes M.B.B.S, PG Medical Education, M.Sc Medical Biochemistry, M.Sc Medical Microbiology, B.D.S.
