South Asian University, well known as SAU University is located at Akbar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi (The new Campus Construction is going in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi having campus area of 100 acres)is an international university, which was established by the Eight member Nations of South Asian Association for Regional Co-operation i.e. SAARC, which are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. The idea of establishment of South Asia University mooted by Dr. Manmohan Singh, Honorable Prime Minister of India at the 13th SAARC Summit in Dhaka in 2005 year.

University Campus: South Asia University's temporary campus was initially set up in place provided by the Jawaharlal University and later, the University had relocated to Akbar Bhawan, Chanakyapuri in south Delhi. In future, the University will have new Campus and Construction is going in Maidan Garhi, South Delhi having area of 100 acres.

Academic And Courses: The University started its academic operations from the year 2010 and now the university offers post-graduate courses in various branches. The South Asia University's First academic session was started in August 2010 with the following two courses: M.A. (Development Economics), Master of Computer Applications (MCA). At present, the University offers both Doctoral and Master's Programs in Seven Areas which are: Applied Mathematics, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Development Economics, International Relations, Law and Sociology. South Asian University have 11 post-graduate faculties with a faculty of undergraduate study courses.

South Asian University is open university for all member nations and Degrees from South Asian University is recognized by all the Eight SAARC countries. The PhD programs will be commence 2013 - 14 academic session. South Asian University awards Degrees and Certificates are recognized by the University Grants Commission in India.
