The Krishna Kanta Handique State Open University - KKHSOU was established under the KKHSOU Act of 2005 and was recognized by the Distance Education Council by DEC/Misc/07/5957 on 03/10/2007, published in the Assam Gazette, recognized by the University Grants Commission vide its letter No. F.9-13/2008(CPP-I) on 18/03/2009 and accredited to award degrees under the Section 22 of UGC Act of 1956.
