The Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya is an university established by Raja Birendra Bahadur Singh and Rani Padmavati Devi. They were inspired by the modern ideologies of spreading education to the people of their princely state. They named this university on their daughter - Princess Indira and donated a building of their palace to house this university. The university is also known by its acronym as IKSVV.

Late Prime Minister of India - Indira Gandhi inaugurated this university on thr 14th October 1956 and thus making the university as the oldest of universities in India. The university is a very large and peaceful campus surrounded by three rivers and thus provides a serene and peaceful climate for the upcoming artists in a rare combination of fraternity and brotherhood.

The university has faculties for Music, Dance, Visual Arts including painting, graphics and sculpture. The university also provides affiliation for courses related to Arts in English, Hindi, Sanskrit, Ancient Indian History, Culture, Archaeology, Theatre and Yoga. Folk Music and Dance is being introduced to people in depth and up-gradations through Computer centre are made available at the university.
To attain this goal, the university has provided Short term certificate courses, Diploma, Undergraduate, PG Diploma, Post Graduate and Ph. D. level research programmes for people.
