National Institute of Technology (NIT), Arunachal Pradesh is one of the thirty-one NITs of the country. It is an autonomous body under the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The NIT was founded in 2010 and has been declared 'Institute of National Importance'. The temporary campus of the NIT is located at Yupia in Papum Pare District. It is fully residential. The permanent campus of the Institute is being developed at Jote in the same district.
The NIT has following departments:- Department of Computer Science and Engineering Department of Electrical Engineering Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering Department of Civil Engineering Department of Biotechnology Engineering Department of Mechanical Engineering Department of Chemical Engineering Department of Management & Humanities (very recent)
Admission in the Under-Graduate programmes is through JEE. The institute has seven departments (relating to technology/engineering) with about 50 faculty members and around 500 enrolled students. The annual intake for the B.Tech. programmes is 210, 30 seats for each departments. PhD programmes have also started since 2012-13 session.
