The foundation stone of National Sports University (NSU) was put in March 2018. The university is under the admin. of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India.

The focus of the NSU is to offer sports educational programs, including those relevant to the fields of coaching, sports sciences, sports technology and sports management. The campus will also have a specialized training centre for certain sports disciplines, the training programs being on par with international standards.

National Sports University is located in Imphal, Manipur, India. Its foundation has been laid only on March 2018. NSU focus on areas related to sports like sports science, sports medicine, sports management, physical education, etc.

Various courses offered by NSU are,
Undergraduate courses - BPES (Bachelor of Physical Education and Science) as well as B.Sc Sports Coaching (in various sports items like Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Football, Badminton, Weightlifting, and Shooting).
Postgraduate courses - M.Sc in Sports Coaching, M.A. in Sports Psychology.

Admission process is only for those candidates who have achievements in various sporting events in significant levels of competitions (like national/international championships, district level, state level, etc. Others like prize money league competitions, memorial/invitational matches, etc. won't be considered). Such achievements shouldn't be more than three years older to the time of admission. Candidates who have represented the country in prestigious competitions like the Olympics will be given direct admissions. Physical fitness is a part of assessment for admission.
