Allahabad University is one of the best universities of Uttar Pradesh, India. The university is located in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh Muir Central College of 1876 has now transformed into Allahabad University. Status of Central University was restored on 24th June 2005 through the University Allahabad Act, 2005 of the Parliament of India. It has two recognised UGC Centres of Advanced Study and five UGC Departments of Special Assistance.

It offers wide variety of diploma, graduate and post graduate courses to the students. Allahabad University admission notification releases in the month of June/July. It provides distance education for the personnel who are working or who cannot attend the classes regularly. Allahabad University exams are conducted twice in a year. It has Central Library of two floors and can cater for more than 500 students at a time. The Central Library of Allahabad University has a collection of more than 6 lakh books and journals. Library is opened from 8 AM to 8 PM on all days except Sundays and holidays.

Allahabad University has two NCC units viz., No.2 U.P. Artillery Battery and the Naval Wing. It has NSS which got tremendous response during the past few years.
