Established in 1998, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has an environmentally friendly green campus of over 60 acres. It utilizes the best of nature through solar power, rainwater harvesting, and treatment of sewage. Facilities for people with special needs are provided and accommodation is available for both, teaching and non-teaching staff as well as for students who come from other States. The Information Resource Centre offers round the clock access to e-resources for students and faculty.

The campus has hostel facilities, sports facilities for athletics, football, cricket, etc and a library with a book bank. There is an NSS cell, a Student Council, and other committees that organize both academic and non-academic workshops. Seminars and conferences with invited guest lecturers and industry-linked experts are also scheduled from time to time.

Academics

Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is the largest university in Delhi NCR with more than 120 affiliated institutions, offering graduate, postgraduate, M.Phil. and Ph.D. programs. There is an intense focus on research and entrepreneurship, and analytical, communication, and leadership skills are developed. There are totally nearly 175 courses, these being multi-dimensional in nature to make selecting a career path in contemporary times that much easier. Thus, the diverse courses that a student can pursue include not just engineering and IT-related courses, but also those in the field of journalism and mass media, including television anchoring , medical and nursing, interior design, etc and other unique ones like disaster management, cybercrime, and yoga.

Admission procedure

Students seeking admission to the courses at GGSIPU have two options: appear for the National Level Test conducted by various recognized authorities or appear for the Common Entrance Tests (CET) conducted by the University or agencies officially accepted by the University. Highly meritorious students can get admission easily, based on the marks of their qualifying degree exam. There is a CET code for a particular program or a group of programs, with specific eligibility criteria for admission to each program.

Formerly known as Indraprastha University (IPU or IP), Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIU) is a public university located in Delhi, India. The university offers undergraduate, postgraduate, as well as doctoral or research degrees in various areas through its different school of studies.

Earlier, GGSIU entrance was through the university's own entrance examination, but now it is through the respective national level entrance examination for each courses.

Admissions are strictly through National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for admission to undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in medicine, NEET UG as well as NEET PG.

Admission to various undergraduate engineering courses will be done on the basis of performance in JEE mains, India's national level engineering entrance test.

M.Tech admissions are strictly based on GATE, the national aptitude test for postgraduate engineering admissions.

MCA or (Master of Computer Application) admissions are done on the basis of NIMCET, National level MCA Entrance test by NITs. From 2019 onwards, GGSIU is also making NIMCET scores mandatory for its MCA admissions.
