About University of Hyderabad

University of Hyderabad which was established in 1974 with Prof. Gurbaksh Singh as its first Vice Chancellor is one of the central universities of the country and is also known by the name Hyderabad Central University in short HCU.

HCU is one of the prestigious universities for higher education in India and is well reputed for its excellence in research studies and also for its distinguished faculty. The campus which is located in the Gachibowli area of Hyderabad, is rich in bio-diversity with 75 varieties of birds, beautiful lakes and natural rock formations which adds to the beauty of the campus.

There are 12 Schools of study with 46 different departments and centers offering around 150 different programs of study which include Doctoral studies to Post Graduate degree in various areas, P.G diplomas and also various short term courses through Distance mode. The university is well reputed for its quality academic training with ever increasing enrollment of foreign scholars. The university is accredited with the highest Grade A by the NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council) and is one of the top 100 universities in Asia.

There are a number of institutions inside the campus which include C R Rao Advanced Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science, the Association of Management Development Institutions of South Asia, the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, the Energy Resources Institute, the National Institute for Smart Government, the National Institute of Animal Biotechnology, the Indian Institute of Public Health, the Institute of Life Sciences and the National Museum of Statistics.

Facilities

The Indira Gandhi Memorial Library in the university campus is the important central facility of the university which caters to the information needs of the faculty, research scholars and the students. The library is having excellent IT infrastructure and the entire university campus is connected with 1 GBPS NKN connectivity. The other facilities include Central Instruments Laboratory which is equipped with sophisticated analytical instruments which cater to the study requirements of the faculty and students , Health Care center, Campus Guest House, hostel accommodation, National Service Scheme and Students' Welfare.

University of Hyderabad (UH) is a public university for postgraduate as well as research / doctoral studies, located in Hyderabad, Telagana. The campus is majorly residential and offers integrated postgraduate, postgraduate, as well as doctoral/research studies in various areas. The university offers courses semester-wise.

Different schools of studies in University of Hyderabad :

1. School of Mathematics & Statistics - Conducts studies in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, as well as operations research. University library is categorized as a regional library by NBHM (National Board of Higher Mathematics). The department offers 2year MSc, 5year integrated MSc (under university's Center for Integrated Studies (CIS)), M.Phil, as well as PhD. Focuses on advanced mathematics as well as special attention given to foundational topics.

Computer Science was started as a department in UH School of Mathematics & Information Sciences, but was made separate in 1993 by the formation of School of Computer & Information Sciences.

11. Sarojini Naidu School of Arts & Communication - Offers Masters as well as PhD programs in Dance, Theatre Arts, FIne Arts, as well as Communication.

12. Center for Earth, Ocean & Atmospheric Sciences - Offers 1year and 2year postgraduate programs. M.Tech in Mineral Exploration (2 years), Advanced PG Diploma in Mineral Exploration (1year), PhD in Earth & Space Sciences. These courses are conducted in collaboration with esteemed organizations like National Geophysical Research Institute, and Atomic Minerals Directorate & Mining Institute.

Interested candidates can apply via an online application form in the university website, from 4th April 2019 to 3rd May 2019. Hall-tickets can be downloaded from 20th May 2019. Entrance exams will be conducted from 27th May to 31st May 2019.
