IIT Kharagpur (IIT KGP) is a premiere engineering institute in India which comes under the Institutes of National Importance. It has been consistently ranked among the top-notch engineering institutes in India. The institute offers undergraduate, postgraduate, dual degree, as well as doctoral degrees in various areas of engineering, science, as well as management.

Courses offered as well as Admission details, IIT KGP

Undergraduate courses - 4year B.Tech, 5year B.Arch, Dual degree (5year B.Tech+M.Tech), as well as 5year Integrated M.Sc admissions are on the basis of JEE mains (also known as JEE advanced). JEE mains can be attended by students who have completed their 12th standard or equivalent in science or mathematics or both as major with a cut-off marks. Only the top JEE performers manage to get admission to IIT KGP.

Postgraduate courses - 2year M.Tech, 2years MMST, 2years M.Sc, as well as 2years MBA. M.Tech admissions are on the basis of GATE (GATE scores have a validity for two years). Masters of Medical Science & Technology admissions are on the basis of separate entrance test (IIT KGP MMST entrance exam), and M.Sc admissions are on the basis of JAM (Joint Admission test for M.Sc). Only the top performers will get admission to IIT.

MBA is offered by IIT KGP's business school, Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM). Admissions are based on CAT scores of candidates who have passed their degrees or going to appear for their degree final exams. There will be a Written Admission Test (WAT) and PI (Personal Interview) conducted at VGSoM for those who have been shortlisted based on their CAT scores. Only the top performers will be getting admission.

Research studies at IIT KGP - Doctoral as well as Post Doctoral programs are offered at IIT KGP. There are also integrated programs like M.Tech+PhD programs, and MCP+PhD (Master of City Planning and PhD). PhD admissions are only for candidates with INSPIRE fellowships, NET-JRF/CSIR. Admissions to integrated PhD programs mentioned before will be strictly based on GATE scores.
