Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University is one of the best universities of Telangana, India. The Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University (APAU), established in 1964 at Hyderabad was renamed as Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University on 7th November 1996 in honour of Acharya N. G. Ranga, an outstanding parliamentarian and a freedom fighter. The university has its goal to train the human resource in agricultural, home science and allied sectors so that Andhra Paradesh can develop. It also promotes research in the various fields of agriculture. The university is located in Rajendra Nagar, a prime location in Hyderabad.

The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University (formerly Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University ) does have 13 colleges and 12 polytechnic colleges affiliated to it. It has excellent agricultural faculty who are technically qualified in the fields of agriculture and home sciences. ANGRAU has a geat reputation as a leading State Agricultural University in India. It offers wide variety of UG, PG, Ph.D and polytechnic programmes in the fields of agriculture and home sciences. Fees collected by the university is very less. University conducts special entrance examination for the students who want to take admission into PG programmes. The Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University do give stipend to the PG and Ph.D scholars. Twenty five percent of the PG seats are reserved for the students belonging to the other states.

Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) is agricutural university established in the year 1964 with its headquarters in the village Lam, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh. ANGRAU was inaugurated by the then PM of India, Lal Bahadure Shastri. The university also has constituent colleges under it.

ANGRAU offers UG, PG, as well as Doctoral degrees in various areas related to Agricultural Sciences through its following faculties of studies :

i) Faculty of Agriculture - Offers UG, PG, as well as PhD in Agriculture. The faculty has many innovative educational programs like RAWEP (Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program), imparting rural farm experience to undergraduates, AELP (Agricultural Experiential Learning Program) imparting skills in enterprise management to students, are examples.

ii) Faculty of Agricultural Engineering & Technology - The faculty has two Colleges of Agricultural Engineering (CAE), at Baptala and Pulivendula. Polytechniques offering courses in agricultural engineering, at Kalikiri and Anakkapalle.
The faculty offers three-year diploma, B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD in areas like Agricultural Engineering and Food Technology.

iii) Faculty of Community Science - Offers B.Sc (Hons.) in Home Science, as well as PG and PhD in other five areas of specialization. The faculty has initiated a food processing and value addition unit at RARS (Regional Agricultural Research Station), Lam Guntur; This unit produces several health related food products like millet and other foods which will be promoted under the brand name 'ANGRAU products'. Coordinating with somany other departments, this faculty also does many activities aiming overall development of rural youths, women, as well as entrepreneurs.

iv) Faculty of PG Studies - PG as well as PhD programs are offered by this department.

Admission details, ANGRAU

Admission to all UG courses except B.Sc Agriculture will be through a state level entrance called EAMCET (Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test, Andhra Pradesh).

Admission to B.Sc Agriculture will be on merit based on the marks of the candidate in qualifying exam, i.e. 12th or equivalent.

PG admissions will be based on the candidate's performance in the university's entrance test and the marks they got in their PG (both have weightage). Doctoral admissions will also be based on a university level entrance test. MBA aspirants will have to qualify the university's entrance test for the same along with a GD & PI.
