Named after the freedom fighter and India's first Education Minister Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad, Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) is a central university located at Hyderabad, Telegana. MANUU focus on development of Urdu language, promotion of education of technical and vocational subjects in Urdu medium via conventional and distance mode. The university offers its courses through various schools, its three ITIs as well as Poly Technique colleges, and three teachers training colleges, mainly through Urdu medium.

Course & Admission details, Maulana Azad National Urdu University

i) School of Languages, Linguistics, and Indology - Departments are, Urdu, English, Hindi, Translation, Arabic, and Persian. Majorly they offer MA, as well as M.Phil and PhD along with other degrees.

Admission to courses offered by Translation department will be through a university level entrance; but to all the other courses, admission will be on the basis of merit.

ii) School of Commerce & Business Management - Departments of Management & Commerce, offering courses like MBA, M.Com, M.Phil, as well as PhD in relevant areas.

MBA admission will be based on a university level entrance, whereas admission to other courses will be through a university level entrance coupled with an interview.

iii) School of Journalism & Mass Communication - Department of Journalism & Mass Communication offers BA (Hons.), MA, as well as PhD in the area of Journalism & Mass Communication.

BA(Hons.) & MA admissions will be on merit based on the marks obtained by the candidate in 12th or equivalent & UG marks, whereas PhD admissions will be based on entrance test.

iv) School of Arts & Social Sciences - Departments of Political Science (BA(Hons.), MA, M.Phil), Public Administration (BA(Hons.), MA, M.Phil), Social Work (MSW, PhD), Women Education (MA, M.Phil, PhD in Urdu Medium), Islamic Studies (mainly offers BA, MA, M.Phil, and PhD), History (BA, MA, PhD), Economics (UG, PG, as well as PhD), and Sociology (BA, MA, PhD) comes under School of Arts & Social Sciences.

Admissions to UG as well as PG courses will be on merit, depending on the marks obtained by the candidates in 12th or equivalent as well as UG respectively.

v) School of Sciences - Departments coming under this are, Mathematics (M.Sc), Botany (B.Sc (Hons.)), Zoology (B.Sc), Chemistry (B.Sc General Botany, Zoology & Chemistry, B.Sc (Hons.) in Chemistry), and Physics (B.Sc General & Hons. in Mathematics, Physics & Chemistry as well as Mathematics, Physics & Computer Science). Poly-techniques are also under School of Science.

Admission to courses offered by Poly-techniques will be on the basis of entrance test. Admission to all other courses will be based on merit depending upon the marks obtained by the candidates in their qualifying exam, like 12th or equivalent, UG, etc. depending on the course they want to study. Those who have studied Urdu at any level in their academic years will have preference in admission.

vi) School of Education & Training - B.Ed, M.Ed, M.Phil, and PhD. The school also has various constituent colleges offering these courses.

Admissions will be based on a university level entrance test.

v) School of Computer Science & Information Technology - Mainly offers MCA, B.Tech, M.Tech, as well as PhD.

Admission to MCA, B.Tech, as well as M.Tech will be based on written test conducted by the university.

Admission to doctoral courses like M.Phil and PhD will be based on a university level entrance test. But those candidates with a valid NET/JRF/CSIR or equivalent will be exempted from this entrance test.
