Formerly Regional Engineering College Tiruchirappally, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappally, NIT Trichy (or called NITT) is a premiere engineering institute in India coming under Institute of National Importance (INI). NITT offers UG, PG, or Doctoral degrees mainly in engineering and in other areas.

Courses & Admission details, NIT Trichy

B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology), M.Tech (Master of Technology), MS (By Research), B.Arch, M.Arch (only in Energy Efficient & Sustainable Architecture), M.Sc, MBA, MCA, and PhD (in various areas of engineering and science) has been offered in various areas.

B.Tech admissions will be based on candidate's performance in JEE mains. Admission allotment will be based on Joint Seat Allocation Authority by all IITs, NITs, IIESTs, IIITs, and other Govt. Funded Technical Institutes in India.

M.Tech/M.Arch admissions will be strictly based on GATE, and will be allotted through CCMT (Centralized Counseling for Masters in engineering and related subjects) .

M.Sc admissions will be strictly based on the candidate's JAM (Joint Admission for Masters) scores, and will be finalized based on Centralized Counseling for M.Sc / M.Sc (Tech).

MCA admissions will be based on candidate's performance in NIMCET (NIT MCA Common Entrance Test), and will be finalized based on CCMT (Centralized Counseling for Masters in engineering and related subjects) .

MBA admissions will be based on CAT/MAT scores of the candidate followed by a GD&PI. NIT Trichy's business school has been considered as one among the top business schools in India.

PhD admissions will be based on a departmental entrance test conducted at NIT Trichy, but those with NET/JRF/CSIR or equivalent will get preference.
