Named after the great Kannada poet Kuvempu, Kuvempu University is a public university in Shimoga, Karnataka. Admission to undergraduate courses offered by the university, B.Ed and B.PEd requires a bachelor degree. B.PEd applicants must also have participation or achievements in sports competition above zonal level, as well as physical fitness will be considered for admissions.

Admissions to all postgraduate courses except MCA, Library Science, Social Studies, MBA, and Journalism & Mass communication will be based on the marks obtained for the applicant in his/her bachelors degree.

MCA, as well as MBA (HR, and Travel & Tourism specialization) admissions are strictly based on Karnataka PGCET, conducted by the state of Karnataka for the candidates who have completed their graduation.

Postgraduate courses in Library Science, Social Science, as well as Journalism & Mass Communication are open to candidates having a bachelors degree, and admissions will be based on an entrance test conducted at the respective department.
