Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit (SSUS) is a public University named after one of Kerala's famous saint, Adi Shankaracharya, having its main campus at Kalady on the banks of river Poorna, or Periyar. The University offers UG, PG, and Doctoral degrees through the its various departments.

Mainly focusing on research, there are various departments in Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit. The University has a centralized admission process and doesn't have any affiliated colleges; But have regional centers at locations, Trivandrum, Thrissur, Panmana, Thuravoor, Ettumanoor, Tirur, Koyilandy, and Payyannur.

The University conducts its own entrance test for various courses conducted at its all nine centers. For PG courses, an aspirant can give five choices of subjects in entrance and select one. PhD courses have a compulsory course work. Courses which are having a lower demand will be revised as per the latest developments.

For direct PhD admissions, SSUS conducts a Common Admission Test.

For every courses, the University also do an evaluation on the number of applications received, number of candidates appeared for the entrance, and the number of candidates turned up for interview.
