Why do some Indian students consider New Zealand as a favourite destination for higher study?

Earlier Indian students used to go for higher studies in Great Britain and in the USA. Very few students from India would also go to Canada for higher studies. But, nowadays, more and more Indian students are opting for other countries for this purpose. New Zealand has become a favourite destination for many such students who complete their higher studies in this small but exquisitely beautiful and serene country. Here I am mentioning very briefly the reasons for chosing New Zealand as a preferred destination for higher studies.

    (i) New Zealand cities are comparatively nearer to most of the Indian metro cities. A person in Mumbai can reach Wellington (capital city of New Zealand) in approximately 8 hours 30 minutes by air.

(ii) The people in New Zealand speak English. This provides a huge advantage for Indian students.

(iii) The people of New Zealand are generally friendly to foreign students including Indians.

(iv) Indian students can get Indian food in almost all major cities of New Zealand. Many Indians have settled there.

    (v) New Zealand is marginally less costly than the UK or the USA. This factor makes the country a favourite destination for higher studies.

(vi) Like other western countries, bigger cities in New Zealand also provide opportunities to Indian students to work part-time and earn money.

(vii) Many higher educational institutes in New Zealand, like Auckland University of Technology, University of Otago, University of Canterbury, Victoria University of Wellington, etc. are top-class universities in the world and provide scholarships and fee-waivers for deserving foreign students.

(viii) Finally, the serene, pollution-free environment, easy lifestyle and less competition provide an excellent opportunity for study and later settling in this beautiful country.

All the above factors have made New Zealand a favourite destination for many aware Indian students planning to go abroad for higher studies.

Yes. The number of students from India opting for foreign studies is increasing, This is making them explore opportunities available in various institutions in various countries. The Internet has made this research easy and students are able to get all the information about the best universities in the world for various subjects and try to join such institutes.
Many banks and other organisations are encouraging students to go abroad by offering loans and this is making students try for a seat in the best institutes across the globe. New Zealand is one of the favourite destinations for Indian students. In the coming days, I feel there will be an increase in the number of students going to this country for their higher studies. I heard that students who study there will be preferred for many jobs in that country and chances for settling down there are very high.

Oh wow! Eight and a half hours to fly from Mumbai to Wellington!

    Incredible.

Super curious to know what airline would that be?

I am pleasantly surprised when I notice the comments of Juana Madam after such a long time!

Juana Madam has rightly pointed out the mistake committed by my old computer. It did not accept my command when I pressed the '1' key before '8 hours 30 minutes'.

I humbly accept the mistake of my old computer. Is it time to abandon it?

The corrected sentence is: "A person in Mumbai can reach Wellington (capital city of New Zealand) in approximately 18 hours 30 minutes by air".

There is a trend for migrating to Australia. I have heard high appreciation for Australia from many of my friends who visited and stayed with their children in Australia. PR is the one word they all use . Many of the children had got PR. They also mention New Zealand in their talks.
Having heard and read from others and from the marketing ads, our students are now interested to migrate to New Zealand. I have also heard and read that eventhough we hear some incidents of racial hate here and there, most of them say about the friendly nature of those people towards the generally law abiding Indian people and students.

There are some countries including New Zealand where course fees are relatively less and Indian students orefer to go there for getting higher education and then searching the job in foreign countries.

Indian students should take the advantage of the proximity of New Zealand with respect to continuing their higher studies. Since the environment in this country is friendly and people of this country are very friendly and cordial, the students should exploit such a conducive environment.
Since the education expenses are not that much expensive apart from favourable environment for pursing studies, this will definitely attract the attention of the Indian students. If they need the financial assistance, they can approach the Banks for availing of loans to meet their study expenses.

It seems to me that a New Zealand university degree will not be as prestigious as a US or UK university degree
